Areas of Focus

Topics and issues I’m passionate about.

My AuDHD special interest is helping folks who might be feeling overwhelmed or stuck in their lives and relationships.

Many of my clients share similar cultural identities as I do, but this is not always the case.

If you are human and need help or are curious about therapy, I invite you to connect with me. I will gladly help point you in whatever direction you need, even if we don’t end up working together.

Navigating Neurodiversity

Neurodivergence (ND) basically means that your brain and nervous system are wired a bit differently than what is considered “typical”. This difference impacts way more than productivity and social interactions. For some of us, our neurotypes can make navigating the world much more challenging!

Our different wiring can affect how we experience relationships, emotions, and even our sense of who we are in this world.

Questions I often receive include:

  • “What’s wrong with me?”

  • “Why am I this way?”

  • “How do I fix myself?”

  • “How can I get what I want?” (sometimes this question is followed by “…without changing who I fundamentally am?”)

Maybe you’ve even been doing a lot of work on yourself, and are now wondering: “What do I do now?”

Here’s the thing: there’s no one-size-fits-all strategy (that I’ve found helpful, anyway).

My goal is to get to know YOU so we can tailor our approach to your individual needs. Think of our work as bespoke therapy that focuses on resolving stuckness, reducing shame, healing from trauma, building skills to better tolerate life’s challenges.

Some neurotypes I work closely with are:

  • Anxiety

  • Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

  • Autism

  • Depression

  • Highly Sensitive Person/People (HSP)

  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

  • Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

  • Trauma disorders (PTSD, c-PTSD)

I am also familiar with Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) and can provide generalized support in this area.

Childhood and Complex Trauma

Our brains are like computers, except squishier and more complicated. Our “programming” gets updated as we learn and adapt to our surroundings. For better or for worse, these programs, or adaptations, can sometimes be pretty hard to shake!

Helpful adaptations might become automatic habits, like buckling your seatbelt or knowing when to say “please” and “thank you.” When your life involves ongoing stress, unpredictability, or trauma, your adaptations might take the form of overthinking, people pleasing, anxiety, or hypervigilance.

These adaptations likely made sense at the time. The tricky part is that our brains don’t always realize when the environment has changed. Therapy can help us understand those old programs, and figure out (and maybe fine-tune) what still serves you, and see what might be ready for an update.

Relationship Support

Relationships impact so many aspects of our lives. It’s easy to feel down if any of our relationships aren’t going well.

Sometimes the biggest challenges are external (partners, family, colleagues, or community). Or maybe your toughest relationship is with yourself.

I’m here to support you, whether you need help sorting through the mess or just polishing what you already have.

Identity-Affirming Care

I strive to create a culturally-affirming and 2SLGBTQIA+ safe space for folx from all backgrounds.

You are invited to bring your entire self into our work together, whether you are confident, questioning, or curious about who you are.
